Youth Sports

More than just the game

When youth join, they develop more than skills—they develop character: teamwork, confidence, sportsmanship. respect, honest, caring are values that are emphasized in all programs. We offer a variety of programs for youth lead by dedicated Y staff and volunteers who have passion for youth.

Coaches lead players through drills and games that build skills, develop coordination and enhance a love of the game. But what makes us special is our philosophy—everyone participates. Fill your child's free hours with safe, fun activities around caring adults at the Y.

Martial Arts

Aikido

Aikido is a blended Japanese martial training. The physical practice of Aikido leads to a better understanding of people and nature, while teaching essential skills for the resolution of conflict. The movements of Aikido are circular and flowing. They are designed on the principles of nature and move in circles and spirals. When Aikido is performed well there is great beauty and composure in the movements of both partners.

Strictly speaking, we do not teach people how to fight. The Art of Peace is a collaborative expression between people attempting to achieve a positive result through rigorous martial training.
