During a time of reflection and collective gratitude, the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette wants to thank you in person for all that you give, in time, talent, and treasure. The upcoming YMCA of Columbia-Willamette town hall meetings are a gathering opportunity, where community members and stakeholders are invited to come together to learn more about the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette’s core principles, long and short term initiatives, ask questions, and share their opinions with the Y’s current, and first female CEO, Bess Goggins, partnered with the Board of Directors Chairperson, Matt McGinnis.

Facilitators

Bess Dietrich Goggins is President & CEO of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette—the first woman to lead the organization in its 157-year history. She joined the Y in May 2025 after serving as CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend, where she led strategic growth and organizational stabilization. Earlier in her career she worked across education and youth-serving nonprofits, including Teach For America, ARISE Schools, and TNTP. At the Y, Bess is focused on advancing community well-being, belonging, and regional impact across Oregon and Southwest Washington.  

Matt McGinnis is Chairperson of the Board of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, where he helps guide the organization’s mission to build strong communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. A lifelong supporter of the Y, Matt joined the Board in 2021 after six years of service with the YMCA of the Foothills in Los Angeles. Before retiring, he held senior legal leadership roles at The Walt Disney Company and practiced corporate law at Latham & Watkins. Now based in Portland, he remains dedicated to advancing the Y’s impact across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
