Throughout the course of the year, Westside YMCA Recreational Basketball serves over 2,000 families throughout the Westside of the Portland-Metropolitan area. Our league is designed to give players of all skill levels the opportunity to succeed on the court and to build relationships with their coach and teammates off it.

Basketball Divisions

Spring Monday Skills Sessions

Each four week session in Spring 2019 will be tailor fit to the skill level of the participants. Our skilled coaches will assess the needs of the group and customize their drills/plans accordingly. We want players to end each session with a sense of accomplishment as well as skills to improve upon and drills to help them do so.

Session 2 | May 6-June 3 (no class on Memorial Day 5/27)
Kindergarten-Grade 2 | 5–6 PM
Grade 3-Grade 5 | 6–7 PM

3 and 4 Year Old

Learn basketball skills and fundamentals in a fun environment. 

3 and 4 Year Old Basketball is on Summer Break. Join us again in the October for Fall League. Registration will open in August.

  • 3–4 year-old league is coed.
  • Hoop Height: 6 ft | Suggested Ball Size: 3.
  • Two weeks of practice before games begin; followed by practice and a game. 
  • Participants will receive a team shirt.
Summer  League | Kindergarten–Grade 2

Registration Fee: $100

  • Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 leagues are coed 
  • Grade 1 teams and younger will have a combined 60 minute practice/game on Saturdays.
  • Grade 2 teams will have a combined 90 minute practice/game on Saturdays.
  • Teams will have two one-hour Saturday practices before the first game.
  • Teams will play a total of seven games with volunteer coaches officiating.
  • Once games start, teams will split time for a practice and a game.
  • Kindergarten | Hoop Height: 8 ft. | Suggested Ball Size: 25.5".
  • Grade 1–2 | Hoop Height: 8 ft. | Suggested Ball Size: 27.5".
  • Participants will receive a team shirt.
  • Participants are encouraged to bring their own basketball.
  • Teammate or coach request accepted with online registration only.
Summer League | Grades 3–5

Registration Fee: $120

  • Leagues are divided by gender.
  • Grade 3 teams will have one-hour weekly practices; Grade 4 and 5 teams will have 90 minute weekly practices.
  • Teams will play a total of seven games with certified referees.
  • Weeknight practices will be held between 5 PM and 8 PM during the week.
  • Grade 3 girls | Hoop Height: 9 ft | Suggested Ball Size 27.5”.
  • Grade 3 boys | Hoop Height: 10 ft | Suggested Ball Size 27.5”.
  • Grade 4 and 5 girls | Hoop Height: 10 ft | Suggested Ball Size: 27.5”. 
  • Grade 4 and 5 boys | Hoop Height: 10 ft | Suggested Ball Size: 28.5”.
  • Participants will receive a team shirt.
  • Participants are encouraged to bring their own basketball.

Withdraw Policy

Withdraw Policy
All withdraw/refund requests must be sent to westside@ymcacw.org. A fee of 20% of the registration cost will be applied to all granted withdraw requests. These requests must be made prior to the start of any Westside YMCA Youth Sports Program. No refunds will be granted after the start date of the program.
