Because of Covid-19 restrictions we are not able to offer all of these programs. Please check our schedule to see what we are currently offering.

At the Sherwood YMCA we offer a number of premium paid programming options. By taking one of these classes you are signing up for a class with a smaller student to teacher ratio that will offer you more individualized attention. These programs include all ages and ability levels. No experience is necessary for this fun learning environment.  

Premium Classes

Tai Chi-Beginner and Advanced

Beginners work on the Tai Chi 8 forms (poses) and Advanced works on the Tai Chi 24 forms. Students will work on individual forms and also gain an understanding of the martial arts application of each form.

TaijiFit: Flow into Better Aging

A new way to embrace the benefits of Tai Chi—easy to follow moves, to allow you to flow into movement. Open to all levels. No experience necessary.

NEW Seated TaijiFit : Flow into Better Aging 

A new way to embrace the benefits of Tai Chi. The easy to follow moves allow you to flow into movement-all from the chair. Open to all levels. No experience necessary. Space is limited.

Tai Chi for Balance

Tai Chi for balance is based on a therapeutic set of continuous, rhythmic and functional Tai Chi based action that works on balance and the shifting of weight.

Nia 

Nia is a cardio-dance workout that combine 52 simple moves with dance arts, martial arts and healing arts to get you fit in 60 minutes—body, mind, emotion, and spirit. Nia is based on the intelligent design of the body. Each workout brings mindfulness to your dance movement experience leaving you energized, mentally clear and emotionally balanced. Join us for this special session to experience the various aspects of Nia including: Classic Nia, Movement to Heal, 52 Moves, Free Dance, and Move IT (Interval training). No experience necessary. Open to all fitness levels and ages.

This program was developed with community members to create an offering for the people in our lives with special needs. There will be a variety of activities with an emphasis on exercise and socialization. Majority of the participants are adults.
