Get Active and Stay Healthy

Our Active Older Adults programs help seniors maintain a healthy lifestyle and engaged community. Our programs include wellness seminars, group fitness classes and events designed to promote mental agility, good health and independence. Programs are open to all ages. We offer a variety of classes such as Chair Yoga, Functional Fitness, Barre, Zumba, Tai Chi and more.

A Typical Class

This class combines upper and lower body strength, balance and flexibility to improve your functional strength, and is designed to use a chair for support depending on what you need.

Attire and What to Bring

  • Come to class dressed and ready to move your body
  • Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing made of breathable material to allow air flow
  • Water bottle
  • Athletic shoes that provide adequate support and good traction to avoid slipping

A Typical Class

Using chairs, balls and bands, we’ll move through a series of balance and mobility drills to improve functional fitness levels.

A Typical Class

Although classes vary, we’ll usually start with stretching, follow dance steps and then close class with a cool down. Dance styles can include merengue, salsa, reggaeton, mambo, rumba, flamenco and calypso.

  • Come to class in functional workout clothing and ready to move your body
  • If you’re new to class, come a little early and let the instructor know this is your first class
  • This class requires you to be physically active and have freedom of movement

Tai Chi

A Typical Class

Participants learn the Tai Chi movements and forms that will be applied in the Practice class that follows.

Chair Yoga

Free for Members

A Typical Class

Chair support is used to move your body through a series of seated and standing yoga poses to help balance, range of motion and balance. Relaxation and breathing exercises will end the class to aid in reducing stress and clearing the mind.
