Reach New Heights
Join us for Community Adventure Day on Mt. Hood hiking Tom Dick and Harry Mountain. Our route up Tom Dick and Harry Mountain is 7.7 miles round trip, and is rated as a moderate level hike. Elevation gain is 1460, summit elevation is 4930.
Our hiking team will meet at the Sherwood Regional Family YMCA at 6 AM for a caravan to Government Camp on Mt. Hood—parking at Mirror Lake Trail Head next to Ski Bowl. Or you can meet us at the Trail Head at 8 AM. A $4 snow park pass is required for parking at trail head and can be purchased at most sport stores, ranger stations or rental shops.
What to Pack
Here are a few things we recommend you pack for the hike. Be sure to dress for the weather, it is often cold and windy. To note, once we summit, we will stop to eat lunch.
- Water, snacks and a lunch
- Hat, gloves and hand warmers
- Waterproof clothing
- Ski/ Trekking poles
- Snowshoes—rent or borrow from a friend
- A camera
If it’s a clear day be prepared for epic views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens.
