YMCA Camp Collins is accredited by the American Camp Association. The camp meets hundreds of standards for program quality, health, safety, administration and facilities. These guidelines are the most widely recognized standards in the camping industry.
Seasonal Summer Camp Staff
Are you looking to make a positive impact on the life of a child at camp this summer? Working alongside other summer camp leaders, you will have the opportunity to help kids with resilience, independence, communication, caring for others, and becoming their best selves.
YMCA Camp Collins is a traditional summer camp located in Gresham, OR along the banks of the Sandy River. Camp Collins serves youth from grades 2-12 and provides activities such as equestrian, challenge course, aquatics, crafts, and much more.

What would you be doing?
- Ensure the safety, well-being and personal growth of campers
- Guide campers and/or staff in working with children and leading them in activities
- Be an active and supportive member of the summer camp team
- Demonstrate positive, professional role modeling at all times, acting in a manner that is consistent with the staff code of conduct and the philosophy, goals, and objectives of YMCA Camp Collins
- Remain on-site from Sunday morning staff meeting to Friday check-out
- Commit to 10 weeks of work from June 18 to August 26, 2023 (We will consider shorter commitments on a case by case basis)
YMCA Camp Collins is a drug, alcohol and smoke free workplace for all summer staff. Mandatory random drug testing will happen during the summer.

Cabin Counselors, Grades 2-8

Work with overnight and/or day campers that come to camp each week. Day to day supervision of a group of children in grades 1st to 8th. Includes leading group games, team building, archery, climbing tower, crafts, nature exploration, swimming, and horseback rides. Implement health and safety protocols around COVID-19 guidelines. Overnight Camp & Day Camp are primarily outdoor programs.
Dates: June 18, 2023 to August 26, 2023 (10 weeks)
Hours: weekly from Sunday morning to Friday late afternoon
Job Requirements: at least 17 years old, pass YMCA background check, CPR/EAD/First Aid
Pay Rate: $400 per week plus room and board - Cabin Counselors, Teens (Grades 9-12)

Day and overnight supervision of a group of youth in grades 9th to 12th. Includes leading group games, team building, archery, climbing tower, crafts, nature exploration, leadership development, and more. Implement health and safety protocols around COVID-19 guidelines. Throughout each one-week session, counselors act as parents, friends, teachers and role models for campers. Cabin Counselors are the primary caretakers of the campers in their cabin and are responsible for the safety and well-being of each camper.

Do you have a special skill or certification that you would like to use at camp this summer? Spend your day supervising our specialized activities, hang out with a group of campers overnight, and support the cabin counselor.
Positions: Lifeguard, Challenge Facilitator, Equestrian Team, Crafts, Mountain Biking, Environmental, Photographer
Dates: June 18, 2023 to August 26, 2023 (10 weeks)
Hours: weekly from Sunday morning to Friday late afternoon

Pay Rate: $425 per week plus room and board - CIT Coordinator

Plan, organize, and implement the Aquatics program and serve as a lifeguard. Responsible for overall aquatics operation: safety, activity development, scheduling, quality of activities, and leading other lifeguards. Aquatic activities at Camp Collins consist of pool, tubing, and river swims.

Supervise, coach, and provide daily feedback to the counseling and program staff. Unit Leaders are responsible for planning, training, conducting observations and evaluations, and ensuring the safety and well-being of staff and campers. Unit Leaders support staff in planning, organizing and implementing value-based programs for their age group or program area. Directors do not reside in cabins with campers. They are responsible for fulfilling tasks and duties to help create an intentional community and summer camp program.

Pay Rate: $600 per week plus room and board - Health House Coordinator (Leadership Team)

The Health House Coordinator works to maintain a safe and healthy camp environment. The coordinator works alongside our volunteer nurses and physicians to provide preventive care and risk management techniques that is consistent with the staff code of conduct and the philosophy, goals, and objectives of YMCA Camp Collins. Manage the day to day administration of supplies, keeping records, and assisting the licensed volunteers in their medical tasks of managing medications and responding to injuries and illness.

Pay Rate: $600 per week plus room and board - Inclusion Coordinator (Leadership Team)

The Inclusion Coordinator manages the needs of campers that require one-on-one attention or other specialized needs. The coordinator supervises a team of staff to provide support, training, and resources to campers that require this service. The Inclusion Coordinator also assists the summer staff team by assisting with camper behavioral concerns.
