We would like to thank Josh Danner for his tireless volunteer efforts on behalf of the Y. Josh began his Y journey as an employee nearly 19 years ago.
As his career path moved away from the Y, he choose to remain involved by volunteering for nearly every event, annually serving as a fundraising campaign volunteer, and lending expertise during facility improvements and repairs.
Josh’s YMCA story began in his hometown YMCA in Sparks, NV, where he worked as a counselor for the school-age child care program. When Josh moved to Newberg, OR in 1999 he sought out a near-by YMCA to get involved. He began at the Sherwood Regional Family YMCA as a swim instructor and lifeguard.
Over the next few years, Josh’s role at the Y expanded into an aquatics leadership position, then Facility Manager. At the same time, his personal role grew to include the title of husband and father of two.
With Josh and his wife both working at the Sherwood Regional Family YMCA, it became an integral part of family life. He and his wife always say that their children were raised at the Y.
Currently Josh works in the maintenance department at Friendsview Manor in Newberg. But Josh is always on call for the Y to help answer any maintenance-related questions and the entire family is the first to jump in and volunteer at events. Thank you Josh, for your years of service to the Sherwood Regional Family YMCA. We’re thankful that we can continue to rely on you to lend a hand for any need!
